I stay on Black folks b/c they are the ones who be mad at OPD for shooting a Black man, but think that a woman getting beat in the street by her dude is okay. Negatory.

You are right. It applies to all of us as humans.M.Dot.https://www.blogger.com/profile/05113752779973426025noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14243811.post-64804191852195645442009-06-25T17:30:51.254-04:002009-06-25T17:30:51.254-04:00"I use the police example to show how we are ..."I use the police example to show how we are socialized tolerate one kind of violence yet be enraged by another."

This line is absolutely spot on. I know you're specifically referencing "we in the black community" here, but I think it applies to all of "us"--i.e. Americans. This process of socialization, inducing acceptance of some abuses but the derision of others, is a sad reality. This is really something we need to push back against, which you do in this post.

Seriously, that line is money; a profound thought for sure.Jeremy R. I...this is my first time hearing of the Perez case. I think as a culture we are entirely too tolerant of Man on Man or Woman on Man violence. Our view of masculinity lean towards the hyper aggressive and hyper sexual so when a man complains of assault we tend to blame him for not being macho enough to defend himself instead of saying all violence is wrong.modest-goddesshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02349577841986972240noreply@blogger.com
