Every since I was a Oakland Nerd, I been Poppin my colla'.

TwitThis

One exam out the way blog family, few more to go. I finally broke down and asked Bronx Logic for what I needed, support. Dinner cooked. To be told that I was gonna make it. So instead of complaining to everyone else about not getting support, I asked for it (I see you g. gotty).

The best part was an inspirational mix with:
1. The eye of the tiger
2. Can I have it Like that.
3. Meth vs. Chef
4. Can it be (all so simple)
5. Believe in Yourself (from THE WIZ)
Needless to say a beech was choked up.

The artwork is by Portia Wells. I love this serious. It is so subversive.

Dude. There was this crazy blazing fire in Greenpoint. I swear on my dead thirty cats, you could smell the embers in downtown Manhattan at 7pm yesterday. Mind you the fire was in Brooklyn. Took me straight back to three days after 9/11 fam.
Spring has me feeling artist. F*ck that. I allways am feeling artistic. I missed Kehinde's show at BMA last year, but alas, here is an article about him. I love reading about artist. I feel like they give me something to work with.

Here is some more of his work. B-Boys, STAND UP.

Daily Candy is for sale. I have been getting Daily Candy e-mails from JUMP STREET. I am gald to see that the sista' has flipped her jawn into something profitable.

In other words, nobody knows how to price the company, whose central asset is a sexy mailing list. The rotund neatness of the floated $100 million price tag may be interpreted as “your guess is as good as ours.” (A source inside the company insisted it was worth much more.) The bare functional core of any major Website—the programming, the design, and the bandwidth—can be yours for about $20,000. The rest of the value is locked in with the unquantifiables—the buzz, the virality, the self-perpetuating magic: Why did teens abandon Friendster to colonize MySpace? Where’s the guarantee they won’t decamp en masse and migrate to TagWorld next?

Yes, there were brotha's in NYC dressed like this. I had to share. They are party
promoters which makes sense, seeing as the threads are so, ahem, attention grabbing.

When ever I meet a woman that is a momma I say, DO YOU DO ANY ADDITIONAL WORK
OUTSIDE THE HOME. Or something along those lines.

Finally someone has quantitativly qualified the jawn.
NEW YORK (Reuters) - A full-time stay-at-home mother would earn $134,121 a year if paid for all her work, an amount similar to a top U.S. ad executive, a marketing director or a judge, according to a study released Wednesday.

A mother who works outside the home would earn an extra $85,876 annually on top of her actual wages for the work she does at home, according to the study by Waltham, Massachusetts-based compensation experts Salary.com.

girl....if i had that extra $85, 876 that would be enough to move me & the munchkin back to our b'stone in brooklyn! good-lawd that's a lot of money. i wish we could actually get paid for it (and i don't just mean tax breaks). raising this little one solo is already very costly, but it's money well spent (and he better not whyle out when he gets grown, or i'm asking for a refund!). say word.

ooooh boy...art in the city. don't make me any more sick than i already am. i was about to say home sick, but a sis is FROM LA...so i can't i can't front. but i feel so at home in NY. i miss it. but will be back soon.

one of those dude look like Tricky. i'm not sure how i feel about dudes rocking pink. i don't even like pink, so i dunno. but they do look "different," but not so different for NYC. it's an everyday thing.

wow@the fire in greenpoint. remember like last chrismas they had like 2 fires in W'burg? the Jewish kids got all burned up. crazy. they need to turn off the stove.

and congrats on finishing your exam. i am almost missing school. almost.

peace, sis.

It is good to hear from you.

This culture does not value child rearing or treat it like it is worth being compensated for.

I lived in a Brown stone in crown heights for two years.
I miss the backyard in that apartment!?!?!

You not missing school.

Can't wait until it is over.
Kinda scared about friday, but I am looking at last springs civ pro exam, (all about motions and all that sh*T), and I am like this is actually KINDA interesting.

The key I have realized is not to implode, not to self destruct, to believe I can do it. I know it seems simple but when you are in an institution with peers that would push you in front of a bus for an A, well, its a little trying.

You all have amazing art in LA and in Arizona. There is the Getty Museum.
And that other new Gehry museum.

When you visit we will Musuem hop so much you will never wanna see art again.

How about that?!?!?!

lol. sounds like a plan. although the little one may get a little grouchy after a while. we'll just have to take a bunch of milk & bananas.

hmmm. i'm wondering why i didn't meet you while i was still in NY :S but oh well. things happen.

& i do miss school.

i am a nerd. and i'd much rather be writing a paper or reading about something interesting, than write useless copy about powertools, or operating systems, or crock pots or _______(insert popular shopping item here).

and lastly...you will do fine!! go sis, go sis. *doing the sideline cheerleader thing*

i missed it, but what type of law are you studying? i thought about law school for like 2 minutes (what english major doesn't?). but i chose the MFA. go figure. *lol* still will probably go back to get the big bad PhD, so i can profess professionally. but in due time.

hit me on the email. i'm ALWAYS on IM during business hours. happy studying!

M.Dot. said...

Oh thank you. I need all the cheers I can get.

MFA's are wonderful.
We are allways deciding between the money/power degree and the creativity/power degree.
IT is what it is.

Um What kind of law. Initially entertainment, but I have been feeling divorce lately.

Ph.D's are the truth.
When I was with Black Bill Clinton, that is what he went to school for and he is teaching now.

I love the schedule of a professor. And those summers off, can't beat it with a stick.

Ill hit you up.

So funny that we meet NOW. And not earlier. I guess it wasn't time.

1. You see the Can It Be All So Simple post I did? That was a shameful plug, yes, but for good cause.

2. That protest sign was too true on Monday, with the Mexican spot being closed and all, i.e. no breakfast burrito. I was sad and equally politically motivated all at once.

3. Good luck on the exams. I just had a paper kick me in the ass today, but then I walked into this little deli, saw a trivia question on the menu board asking for the names of the members of the Juice Crew (no lie), answered, got a free sandwich, and was happy instantly. So what I'm saying is, put your faith in Marley Marl and all will be okay.

@ Fletch
Thank you, I need it.
There is something so resonate with the Mexicano's going for thiers.

I love hearing, mainly complacent white people on the news, talk about, MEXICANO'S ARE ILLEGAL.

Who gave them the power to use ANOTHER PERSONS LABOR for slave wages, or at least turn a blind eye to the action,
then call 'em illegal.

Between Hurrican Starrkeysha and this,
we are getting a great lesson in Civics.

When's your last exam? We should get a celebatory(sp?) drink after it. If I can be two papers away from getting a MFA you can ace these finals!! You should go to sexy-results.blogspot.com, I think he just graduated from law school Good luck son!

M.Dot. said...

AWWW JASE.

Not only no breakfast burritos but I don't see anyone pale heading for that long ass line to pick fruit in the hot sun. Yeah, that's a job they're stealing...

the prisoner's wife said...

lol@duane. it kills me when black folks talk of stealing jobs. last time i checked i didn't want to pick NOTHING but my outfit for the next day.

For what it's worth, I have never seen a Hispanic person working in Taco Bell. And I do live around quite a few Hispanics.

M.Dot. said...

Walt. What to latinos have to do with Taco Bell?

Gotty™ said...

Chea Chea Chea!!!

Dude has a sign that says "No Illegals-No Burritos". I bought a few burritos at TB yesterday and damn if everybody working there wasn't Arabic. Now, authentic burritos, that's another story.

M.Dot. said...

AHHHHHH.

There is the rub Grande Walt.

Arabic FOLKS ARE IMMIGRANTS TOOOOO.

So they are still affected by the same sh*t that the mexican issues are MIGRANT issues.
