"If it was a Swastika it Would be a Hate Crime."

TwitThis

An recent article about the nooses that have been popping up
brought to my attention the fact that while swastika's constitute a hate
crime, nooses don't.

Why is that?

Sar-ron Beverly knew about nooses from family stories and historical photos. But he never understood their power until he walked into his boss' Fairfield office one day and saw one hanging from the ceiling, in front of a bookshelf and a family portrait.

"It was just too much," said Beverly, 30. "I'm from Mississippi. My grandparents moved to California to get away from this stuff.

"A hangman's noose shows the ultimate hatred for African Americans."

Nooses say, sit down, shut up and EVEN THINK ABOUT FIGHTING BACK.

"Many white people are unaware of the incredible power of the lynching story for African Americans," said Sherrilyn Ifill, a professor of law at the University of Maryland and a former civil rights attorney. "Lynching was a message crime. It served to tell the black community that there were boundaries. Don't get too educated. Don't vote. Don't get too wealthy. Don't look at a white woman.

"It was not just used to punish an individual, but to serve as a threat to others."

Then we get to good part about why the image is so powerful image.

"I don't buy the story that these are pranks," Ifill said. "If this were a swastika or a burning cross, no one would be asking that question.

"Lynching is a history that blacks take very seriously and live with, and that whites have almost entirely ignored."

Displaying a noose is illegal under federal hate-crime laws if it is intended to injure, intimidate or interfere with any person, or to attempt to do so, by force or threat of force, because of that person's race, color, religion or national origin.

My question is why don't the recent incidents consitute an attempt to intimiddate or interfere with a person....?

Black people NEED more people. LOL.

Cheney gets caught wrapped in around a
Confederate Flag and quickly starts side stepping that sh*t.
A photo by the Daily News that captured a Confederate flag hanging in the window in front of Clove Valley Gun and Rod Club has prompted everyone and Al Sharpton to rip into Cheney, who claims he didn't actually know it was there. “The vice president did not see a flag, nor did anyone on his staff traveling with him in New York,” White House spokeswoman Megan M. Mitchell told the Times. Well, he did have a hood over his eyes and everything. Just kidding! Look, let's be honest.
New York Magazine be KILLIN' me.

Oh. The Bounty Hunter loves N*ggas.

Where is Al Sharpton? Somewhere blaming this on NAS. LOL.

HONOLULU—Television bounty hunter Duane "Dog" Chapman apologized Wednesday for repeatedly using a racial slur in a profanity-laced tirade during a private phone conversation with his son that was recorded and posted online.

Chapman, star of A&E's hit reality series "Dog the Bounty Hunter," responded after The National Enquirer posted a clip of the conversation in which Chapman uses the N-word in reference to his son's girlfriend.

A&E officials did not immediately return phone messages seeking comment from The Associated Press. Chapman issued a statement apologizing for the comments.

Don't apologize. If you wanna call n*ggas, n*ggas, claim that sh*t.
He used the term because he INTENDED TO INSULT HIS son's girlfriend.
Which is precisely why he did it.
And the son FLIPPED IT by recording it and leaking it. NICE!
Thats the problem with n*ggas now, a lack of integrity.

I am jealous of Virginia Heffernan. Yes. I said it.
She's funny (she co-wrote The Underminder with Mike Albo
who
is right up under Judd Apatow on my nerd humor list),
adorable and gets to write PROFESSIONALLY
about
technology. <<<----Is relieved that I let it out.

I just peeped her blog today a nd she has a piece up
from a few days ago about a web
site that has one of the most popular message boards
on the internet, Prison Talk, which allows folks in
prison to communicate with the outside
world.

Check her out.

I am still unclear on why a swastika evolve to constitute a hate
crime but a noose
does not?

Why wasn't the above cited Federal law applicable in Jena or
at Columbia?

Is Al Sharpton gonna start protesting the Bounty Hunters
show?

Should he be punished for just being angry and
racist?

Was he in fact being racist?

In Canada I don't even think the swastika is considered a hate crime. I don't know if I am noticing racism more as I get older or it is actually getting worse. There was an article not to long ago in and Edmonton Canada paper about this white power group protesting with nazi flags etc. and started bothering this group of young teenagers that, one was a minority, while they were trying to raise money to feed the poor. WTF. It seem like every other week some one in the public eye comes out and says something racist, Imus, etc. Dog isn't sorry he is just sorry he got caught and doesn't want to loose his career. Just like the rest of them. And where is Al Sharpton on this one?
I was at a Halloween party lat year and talking to this guy, I thought was cute, and he started going on about different races and started to say some extremely racist hateful stuff. I was shocked I didn't even know what to do. I think my jaw almost hit the floor, I told him he was a complete idiot and walked away. The scary thing about these people isn't their uneducated views on different races it is the extreme anger and hate they feel, that is what terrifies me most.
