HBCU's are recruiting Latino's.

HARD.

Muy Interesante.

Eleven historically Black colleges and universities affiliated with the United Methodist Church are boosting their efforts to recruit students from the burgeoning Hispanic population.

The consortium of HBCU leaders, known as The Council on Presidents, discussed their strategy late last month at a two-day workshop called "Forging Bold New Paths: Offering Welcome and Ministry to Hispanic-Latino Students at Black Fund Schools." Discussing everything from Hispanic cultural values to immigration issues, the presidents came together in Nashville, Tenn. to discuss how best to reach Hispanic students and how to meet their needs once they come to campus.

THEY BETTER MARKET HER RIGHT.

Man.

Listen.

Music is Delicious. I got "Monk-Roach-Duke" jawn from the library, "Doomsday" from Noz and Aim's "Frank" from Gotty, all in heavy rotation this weekend.

I think Chrisette is gonna get marketed in the vein of Norah Jones and John Legend. She's already performed on the CBS morning show. It was a pretty good performance too. Hopefully, she'll make some music that won't sound dated in a year or too. We need some more of that timeless music to represent our generation.

As for the HBCU's, not so surprising to me. Hampton's tennis team was entirely eastern european. If they're gonna be here(hispanics), they might as well get an education. They'll probably get screwed on loans and what not though.

She reminds me of how Jill Scott came in to the game...she's really dope, got a great voice..she really understands the mechanics and techniques of singing...can't go wrong with that.

I'mma have to disagree with you on the beats section..

Nah, been there done that. Like the clip said. HBCU's are tuition driven, they don't really care how the student's pay for it.

As for Chrisette, Def Jam almost has to market her that way. First of all they need the money and sales. Secondly, her music will dictate that direction.

she reminds me of a Macy Gray/Jill Scott hybrid too. Although the John Legend reference was right on.

as for historically black colleges - yeah this is interesting. i think we should be reaching out, building alliances with other groups. but...i find black communities sometimes get swallowed up by the new group when we look external. careful tango, this appropriation dance.

Your right about that, but they do ALOT better with R&B. If they mess up with her, a whole lot more than 40 people are gonna get fired.
