One of the difficult parts of being a MODEL MINORITY IS
that you have to be THE REPRESENTATIVE OF YOUR race/class/
gender/ethnicity/religion...or the f*ck else I can think of.
For instance, we are asked to interpret shit for our family.
If you are the only person in your family to go to college,
grad school, med school, law school, social work school,
med school, you end up being the f*cking defacto expert
for people who have your last name, AND people who knew
you when your twelve AND your friends who say
"is a promissory note enforceable" in court? What UP GOTTY.
2. You have to be the representative of your ethnicity at work.
"M.dot your a really credit to your race because when that client
called, you handled it with ease, sincerity and professionalism.
If only more employees could be like you M.dot."
3. "M.dot, Why arn't more negros like you? Why don't more Black
parents........"
=======
=======
When was the last time some one put you on
the spot because of your ethnicity?
I am not talking about the Negroes either,
I am talking about ALL READERS. Australia? England? Mexico?
I see y'all. I see my tracking. I KNOW THAT y'all reading.
TMR, TPW, J, NEO, STEPHEN, MONIKER. The F*ck
ya'll going through?

You don't even want to know...
Trying to get a passport b/c my boss forgot to tell me about a meeting in Mexico next month.
Getting the blog back up and moving, and looking for writers.
Making holiday travel arrangements.
Dealing with an overpacked schedule at work.
And some interesting moments with my girl...
"But i love it though" (c) Joe Scudda, "Scars"
"Because, in your neighborhood, there's a lot of violence right? On the news there's been a lot of coverage about the number of murders in the black community. What do you have to say about that?" *looks towards me*
Shit never fails.
Doesn't matter whether we're talking about educational, economical, or other societal disparities between blacks and whatever else they pick from the sky.
Me? School, man. I'm just trying to get that diploma and get out without killin' one of them m'fuckas up there.
Waves @ Stephen...uhhh...i know i'm comment hustling....BUT...did you say you're looking for writers? Holla at the kid (theprisonerswife@blogspot.com). LOL@me not even knowing what your blog may be about, but yeah.
on to what i've been up to...
BURRIED beneath WORK! grades are due wed., my final project for my education courses are due wed, as well. it's a mess!
but to answer your question...
i can't recall the last time i felt like i HAD to answer for something. strangely, i think it had more to do with my age (youth) than gender/race. also...when people start talking about prison, i feel like they are always staring me down LOL.
correction. the email is...
theprisonerswife@gmail.com
that's what i get for trying to read blogs & grade papers at the same time!
LOL@me not even knowing what your blog may be about, but yeah.

I'll shoot you an e-mail. The site is centered around hip-hop and Christianity. It's our way of fusing two of our loves, and showing the unknowing that Christians don't fit into a nice, neat stereotypical box.
If you go through the site, you'll see a huge drop off in writing over the past year, so my goal is bring back consistent writing.
And yeah, i've probably said too much, but oh well...
Stephen...errrr.
Mexico. You need to stay that negro ass......
How you gonna get TPW?
THATS MY HOMIE.
SH*T.
She NEEDS to be writing HERE.
<<----Gets possessive.

Dude.
I can so hear your voice when I read your writing.
The other night while trynna enjoy Lupe I noticed the friggin group that sponsored the event was an all white group named Hip Hop for change. when they asked for constructive criticism I asked for more outreach and representation of the communities in which they were coming into...one girl looked at me and said "look at our school, our club is a balanced representative of ou school" I could've flipped the eff out at that point...then she told me that invites were given to several Black groups to join but no one accepted...she looked to me in a defensive mode expecting a reason as to why.
For a moment I will pause to let u imagine the look on my face.
Now what's the question again? Ha! Girl I ain't been up to much other than working and trying to get another round of people to hop on my reference letter bandwagon...oh and still commenting from this phone...grrrrrrrr
oh and listening to American Gangster like it's the best thing since Reasonable Doubt...yeah I said it!
I'll flip this around cuz, this was the first thing that came to mind.
On sunday we were talking about guacamole. This guy is telling us that it's just rotten avacodo's. No one really believed him, so he's like call Adrian (a mexican who was off) and ask him. So we do and he has no idea.
Afterwards, the guy says "I can't believe you called him, that was so racist." I was like "hey you told me to call, so we both to blame." Then we basically had the same discussion you just wrote.
Personally it happens to me on almost a daily basis on some level.
Good to be back.
I'm a Black Officer in the Army. It happens to me at least twice a day. And if I just happen to be around when the O'Reilly factor is on...
The saddest part is that there are so many white people that have never seen a black person up close (and vice versa). And they all join the military...

Welcome to MM.
^^^Yikes at "and they all join the Military." Racial combustion and access to guns IS NOT what the streets want. LOl.
You're so smart Walt. Especially compared to most of your peers...
I am on a committe that selects the non-fiction books that will be ordered by the library system for which I work. There are two of us on said committee. We have to explain why the titles that are by popular African American authors should be included, expecially if they aren't mainstream.

Where you been Ma?
How you been?
Can you get access to the sheer numbers that the hood lit moves?
When they ask....she plop that sh*t on the table...and say this is WHAT the streets want. Duh.<<---Well not using slang, but you get my drift.
I have access to what how the titles move in this system. The big problem is that most of those titles go out once or twice and never come back. We are forced to order the same titles over and over again. Not just the new stuff, the same goes for Donald Goines and Iceberg Slim.
I'm still here. I was off from work for two weeks and away from the internet because of medical reasons.
Dude.
I can so hear your voice when I read your writing.
