Mina mina mina mina, say what...

TwitThis

Y'all wake up with hip hop in ya' head. I do.

What songs do you hear in your head at random times?

I hear the following:

A Doom song, IF I am having a good day OR if I hit a stride at work.

Ice Cube, Death Certificate ERA if sh*t is all bad.

Jay Z, on pay day, no matter where you go you are who you are player.

Shorty Hit the Brakes Too Late, Being w/ SJ in Dall for my b-day.
N*gga stay pumping LB.

MC Lyte, if an ex-bf crosses my mind.

Freeway, when I think about running.

This morning I clearly woke up with the mina, mina, mina, say what.

Speaking of this morning.

I have BEEEEEN to test something out that I read in news papers
but never did here.

You know how you see a number, then it is followed by an explanation.

Well, I am going to do a version of that here.

For example,

6, The number of yogurt, blackberry, rasberry and strawberry containers
I made ahead of time last night for breakfast this week.

$5.50
, the cost of the Honey Dew Melon that I had to put back
AT THE CASHIER, because that b*tch was too expensive.

2, The number of months its gonna take for Obama and Gore to GET
RIGHT and announce the partnership.

3
, The number of hours I spent last night and this morning
preparing lunch/breakfast for the coming week.
^^^Sh*t makes me feel like an organized grown up.
14
, The amount of my first pedicure in the town.

10, The number of hours in the day that I am going to have to work,
according to SJ, to demonstrate that I am impressive.

=======
=======

What song do you hear and when?

Any relevant numbers in your life?

Hours spent sleep, awake?

Number of times you went over budget last week? <<
folks BI right thuur.

Good Morning - KanYe West or Beautiful Morning - Little Brother
================
Those songs are for when I awake in the morning, always feeling good, if only because I woke up.

Gotta Get Up (Another Day) - Jill Scott
================
Some days I just want to stay home and play some Ms. Pac-Man, and listen to The Roots and chill.

Oh My God - Jay-Z
================
When I walk into work.... I just get that feeling that I can pretty much set my work day off right.

C.R.E.A.M. - Wu-Tang Clan
================
Payday. 'Nuff said.

37 - My life always revolves around 3 and 7 or 37, multiples of 3, multiples of 7, it's just there.

5 (on average) - Number of hours I sleep.

19 to 20 - Number of hours I'm awake. (Gotta keep moving, so when I hit 33, I can make money in my sleep....)

Number of times I went over budget last week? How many days is it in a week? 7.

And yes, you all up in my BI. But it's all good.

hmmm...depends on the day...

i used to wake up with UNITY (the Queen) in my head...it was my theme song for a while.

NY State of Mind ~ when i'd have to get up early & hit that A train.

Brown Skin Lady ~ usually on the weekend, cuz i can relax.

G-Thang ~ used to wake up hearing it mid-90s.

too many others...interesting question...

numbers...
2 the number of years my little one has been alive (as of yesterday!)

=LB - Beautiful Morning
=Common - BE (intro)
Wow. Got the alarm clock with CD player and Little Brother's been a staple. The intro to BE is a good one too. That bass is always nice to wake up to.

=Mos & Kweli - Little Brother
During those long days at work/school, that moment after you try to guess what time it is(from the last time you checked) then only to find out of course, you're way ahead by an hour.

=Dead Prez - Hip Hop
Throughout school teams or pick up games, regardless of the sport. If there was one song that was constantly on the playlist, it's this. M1's first verse always turns my anxiousness into concentrated focus. stic always hammers it home.

Warren G's "Regulate the G Funk era" came on in my head this morning, kept wondering why amongst the "classic album" argument this album gets overlooked....I ended up listening to Wayans Phase II however..in the shower.

*Stillmatic Intro (Nas)* - When I'm in the zone and I feel like what I'm about to pen is and will be the greatest lyric ever..

*A word from our sponsors (Von Pea of Tanya Morgan & Phone of LB)* - If I'm about to step out the crib just to go out and have some fun..

*The People (Common)* - When I'm in deep thought about the state of things, what my purpose in life is..

*She lives in my lap (Andre 3000)* - Romance..

*U, baby (Soulbrotha)* - re: romance..

*Gotta be startin' something (MJ)* - At weddings, whenever I'm feeling crunk this always gets me storrrted..

Okay off top…. How is Death Cirtificate like my favorite album of all time yo?

Ya music taste goes from immaculate to impeccable…

I swear to what ever God anyone believes in that album changed my life for real, and strongly crafted my view of the world I live/d in.

So much knowledge and realness on that record…. Color Blind, Be True to The Game….Alive on Arrival…..

When can one not listen to Bird in a Hand…..how come nobody has made an “Us” remake…..

Mann that album had me on some “F*** That I aint singing the pledge of alligence!!!!”

Old School Lyte..is always that ish…. She was a Mc’s Mc

I hear Dead Prez Police State…. When I’m mad at the government..

I hear George Benson Give me the Night when I think about my pops..

I used to hear Bigge’s Everyday Struggle ..when I was depressed…

And

Long Kiss Good Night When I was pissed

I hear Kam’s Still Got Love for Em..when I think about middle school

I hear the Whole Lost Boyz Legal Drug Money album when I think about graduation…

Mannn my hours are so random……. Sometimes I sleep 8 hours sometimes 3 and a half…. I need to get that right

On the real, I could write an essay on how important Death Certificate is to music history. Personally I think it's the best hip hop album of all time, and I have no problems debating anybody about it.

Cube earned his right to do whatever the F he wants after he dropped that gem. I dont care if he makes "Are we there yet?" part 74. Death Certificate covers all that.

As for songs that stay on repeat in my head:

Jay-Z - U Don't know
On the business tip, Jay-Z is the most influential and spectacular rapper of all time. I don't see how you can listen to this song and NOT be inspired..... "Mama aint raised no fool....put me anywhere on gods green earth... I'll triple my worth... muthafucka"

lol, but am I wrong though?

Jay-Z isn't even my favorite rapper. I'm from Oakland, so 2pac will never be touched on that front... but as far as business you can't front on Jay.

-----------------

It was feel good music…plain and simple ma…

The Lost Boyz where like a party group that heads could vibe to….

They often made “happy” music that aint feel soft… “Lex Coup Bemaz” epitomized that

While Cheeks would find it hard to crack a top 300 mc list, he and Freeky Tah…along with to niggaz that aint do nothing..made a album that you could play all the way through, many many times over….

( goes to listen to “The Game” of of Legal Drug Money)
