I was speaking to Robbie a couple of weeks ago. He asked me
how my History of Hip Hop Blogs piece was coming along (meaning
that it has gotten way bigger than I anticipated).
I told him it was large, and that I wasn't sure whether to make
it into one, two or three parts. He responded saying that most
people cut and paste, so I shouldn't be bothered with the length.
Experience has shown me there there is only so much that
you all are willing to read before you glaze over and stop
altogether. My question for you is, what is your technique
for reading blogs at work? Do you cut and paste? Do you
read on your phone? Do you avoid blogs at work?
Are blogs firewalled at your job?
Im curious.

I mainly read them at work.
If they're really long and I'm interested I'll print it out and read it much later.
We have no internet access at work so I have to wait until I get home.
Toni,
No internet @ work? You all must be uber "productive".
Wait, not even e-mail?
I used Google Reader
Google reader is the business.
Id read the website I write for, yours and nah right from time to time.
but recently "they" caught on, and now i cant look at shit
They stay hatin on us model minorities huh?
-J!!!
i typically read at home. my attention span is short, so it better be banging LOL
curse my clumsy thumbs!!!...
I had just written a pretty long, extremely detailed response (I do visuals son!!!I make movies with my words!!!...get your mind out the gutter...lol...)
and then all of a sudden...mr.right thumb decides he's gonna hit backspace while i'm checkin for spelling errors and such...
sh*t...
if I had the energy to re-type it right now I would...
but I don't so I'll try to do it tomorrow...
I have to write like 7 songs this week and get this mixtape done by december-ish...
(yep, still doin the [...'s])
PEACE
@ J...they? All bad.
@ TPW, did you know that's how you appear in my phone? Lols. Attention span. Uh. Yeah.
@ Edgar...Thumbs of clumsy, please listen...I been having issues homie on some....If I don't remember to take the tea kettle off the stove...Imma check myself in somewhere. Don't feel bad. It happens.
How ironic I’m reading a blog at work now…….
Bad puns aside.. It depends on the depth of the blog. I can read one of your average posts at work because even though they are usually stocked with information, they aren’t to long to digest between earning my keep on the plantation.
The only thing that sucks about reading blogs at work is, unless it world star hip hop, almost all video I would usually be privy to, gets blocked from my visual.
And as others have said, and a wise person once suggested to me, I’m have become a google reader user…
That ish is like the internet itself…kinda hard to think I even used computers before I knew of its existence
I'm back...
anyway...
*google reader user* (that sh*t was like a miracle to my co-workers when I did have a job...construction work, mostly 30 and up guys concerned with, bills, family, beer, work, and sometimes God [mostly when its convenient :(])
if the post is really long, I'll print it out (if the printer has ink...usually doesn't)
or make a mental note to read it later (if time permits) or sometimes even a sticky note will do...(lord knows I got a lot of those)
no lie...sometimes I'll copy the url send it to my boy freddy on myspace and use that as a sort of weird bookmark that only he and I know about (sometimes he'll read em too and it'll spark a side-conversation at our next meeting)
(I have a lot of bookmarks on my browser too...I forget about some of em...but for the most part I'm good with keeping them organized)
we've been recording songs on the weekends so our time's kinda taken up by that which means we fall behind on the blogs...
but come monday morning I try and sift through as many as I can and come out with the good ones that I either read and keep to myslef, read and re-post on my myspace blog, or read and talk about in face to face conversations later on...
considering I don't have an actual job (*@ nonsupporting fam & friends*I'm a rapper!!! You don't blow up overnight!!!)
I gotta say I think I come off as a pretty busy guy with a lot of things running through his mind...
which is wierd...
cause I consider myself to be pretty chill...
@ M.Dot...I don't feel bad about it(well maybe a little...lol) I like to laugh though...and I like to share the laughter too...so when I do things like post a whole story up about how my thumb slipped and fucked me up...Its usually for comedic purposes...
meaning that: Its all good baby!!! (Dave Chappelle tone)
you see...I went through some sh*t when I was younger that made me start appreciating life just a tid bit more...
so a lot of the things (god how vague right?) that I do now in my daily life are a result of that...
and thats how a lot of these comments that I post up turn in to full on mini books (even though I don't want them too*)
*a hint about this one perhaps?hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm????
alright let me stop now...
PEACE
I usually read it at work but if it is too long I'll usually read blogs at home. I might have to try google reader..
sometimes I'll copy the url send it to my boy freddy on myspace and use that as a sort of weird bookmark that only he and I know about
