There is Something About Foxy Brown

TwitThis

I saw Foxy Brown in the Tunnel once.

She is beautiful.

Her teeth were strikingly bright and her skin was
like
a melted chocolate bar.

She and Kurupt were still dating then.

They were out together that night.

Here it is, years later and she is in jail.

I wonder what is going through her mind this moment.

She is young and full of potential but right now stands
for the
stereotype of the "Angry Black Woman" with
an attitude problem.

We all know people full of potential but something in their personalities
causes them to f*ck off their opportunities to shine.

It can manifest in DUI'S, accidental baby daddie's and
really bad credit reports.

One bad, decision and our futures are materially changed forever.

Now don't get it twisted. In this blog I have looked at the way
in which my own habits have impacted my chances to shine.
Such as not following up on networking opportunities, f*cking
with a n*gga who would rather party than work, having survival
guilt about being the "one" that made it.

That being said, I understand the destruction.

But Foxy, unlike me, is doing it under the spotlight in front
of a lot of people and the magnitude of her destruction is
much greater.

She turned her car over, lost her hearing,

She also stands for the stereotype of young star who is caught
up in the legal system.

I wonder if she sees this as a "a part of the process" of her
doing what she needs
to do to get where we need to go.

Remember when Mary was notorious for showing up to interviews
late, drunk and angry?

You peep how she has transformed?

I wonder what it will take for it to happen with Foxy?

I wonder why she is so angry and self destructive.

I am bloggin from one of those Transbay Bus's,
and I can see the Bay water. I just had an INSIDIOUS
thought. WHAT IF THERE
WAS AN EARTH QUAKE right now?

=======

Why is Foxy so f*cking mad?

Do you know anyone who walks around full of rage?

What enrages you?

Good question I wonder too myself, like she's got everything going for her in that there are tons of ppl out there who would kill almost to be in her position but she does some really stupid things and its like WTH foxy? I can't wrap my head around these latest legal issues and its like dang girl when are you going to get it together?

I don't know if its something in her past or present that makes her this way...it'd be interesting to find out though.

Being on songs back in the mid 90s when she was 15-16 yrs probably had something to do with it. Grew up way too quick. One.

I. Foxy

the thing that is most troubling for me is that she has the TALENT most female rappers WISH they had. i appreciate the skill & the grimey ish she kicks. but like Commish said, perhaps getting put on at such an early age effed with her head. who knows.

it is a bit unfair for her to soldier through this under the hotlamp of the media/ghetto grapevine. we know we LOVE to hate on folks just cuz it's thursday.

II. Rage
i have a few students who wake up angry. it's very scary how ill equipped they are to deal with their emotions. many of my students have seen way too much, way too soon (probably like Inga), and they had parents (or lacked parents) that never taught them HOW to deal, how to experience emotion, or how to behave.

many of my male students are...waiting to explode. i try to stand in that gap. give a hug (if they allow) or a pat on the shoulder to say, "you ARE valuable"...but who knows if they will remember my words/our words when the shit hits the fan.

I think foxy will come through all of this okay. Like someone else said, she came up too fast, with the money and the fame. It's hard enough for a regular young person to find themselves, let alone with all the media attention and pressure. She can either take the Mary J. Blige route, or she can take the Mike Tyson route.

I think it's really a maturity thing with foxy, when you look at the stupid stuff shes being caught doing. Fighting with people at a hair shop?? Throwing her phone at neighbors?... thats high school shit.

On the other subject, I ALWAYS think about that when I'm crossing the bridge, or anytime I'm in frisco for that matter. That entire city is not the place you wanna be during an earthquake.

looking at Foxy I see someone who got real close but never really achieved their dreams. I mean back when I was living in Brooklyn in the mid-ninties, and she was blowing up but still living with her moms there it was recognized that women were still getting pimped hard just trying to get studio time.

The stories that I heard at parties and over dinner tables of what those female artists endured would make anyone need therapy, especially if you went thru all that and still ended up back where you started?

Her full circle wasn't all that big, and it's not like she was extremely in the process, add a little drug habit and some inner demons and you get Foxy Brown!
