Ye Ye is a Genius.

TwitThis

Rarely does a mans words grab me.

I was listening to the new Yeye.
Song by song,
looking for smilies, metaphors, undercaps, the whole 9.

Just doing me, listening, imm'ing with the blog homies.

Then Big Brother came on.

"My big brother was Big's brother."
I stopped typing and moved closer to the speaker.

That F*CKING hook is PURE Hip Hop.

But more importantly, he is being vulnerable and grammatically playful
and that combination is fly as sh*t.

Then I thought. When is YeYe's born date?

And HA HA. He's a Gem and that makes perfect sense.
((( My experience is that they are anal-perfectionists that
love to keep sh*t poppin))).

Ain't that the reason we like Pac?

Why don't we hear more about how artists strive to get put on?

I'm a Gem as well.

And I know for a fact there's no one more extravagant than us. Examples:

The Notorious B.I.G. (May 21st, same as mine)
'Ye (June 8th)
3 Stacks (May 27th)
Cee-Lo (May 30th)
Big L (May 30th)
Busta Rhymes (May 21st)
Prince (June 7th)
Pusha-T (June 2nd)
Carl Thomas (June 15th)
Krayzie Bone (June 12th)
Ice Cube (June 15th)
Tupac (June 16th)
Jadakiss (May 27th)
Lauryn Hill (May 25th)
Alanis Morissette (June 1st)
Lenny Kravitz (May 26th)

That's not all of them, and this is just music. We're the coolest of the cool, as a matter of fact, we're Ice Cold.

Yeah! PatrĂ³n for breakfast!

===================================

Because they like to make it seem like it was easy to get on. Just like everyone is hard and sells drugs. Plus we don't have as many artists sticking around as long to tell that story. With ringtone deals and dance step songs, it's not what people want to hear.

On a side note, I think Big Brother hits with so many people cuz it happened around the Hard Knock Life tour as well. He makes his experience relatable to so many people, cuz a lot of us had similar experiences.

Leo.

It's seems like the Bay has given you a lot to write about too M. Dot. Hopefully I'll be able to add comments here in the upcoming weeks.

Its EASY to sell drugs.

Think imma establish a scholarship to send n*ggas to pharmaceutical school.
$80K/year out the gate is not a bad look.

Yeah.
Thats what makes him a stand out dude.
I never really cared for his music.
His personality, integrity and approach to his craft.
HOT.

Leo.

Yeah. Yall the truth.
A leo macked me and broke off a piece of my corazon last march.
So I look at yall a lil sideways. Plus I don't fuck w/yall. I broke my rule and paid for it.
At first, he was there telling me I had a "f-ck me face", holding my hand in the village, grabbing my @ss on the train, then poof he was gone.
I wonder if he passed the bar... anyhoo

Alice Walker says that she had to leave NY and come to the bay to write because the buildings blocked the spirits.

Writing a lot too because my cupcakin' supreme affiliate. sweet jesus, is doing the family/friends reunion this weekend so....im writing...shining...keeeping it tyyuty, besides you know...idle hands...you know the rest....

Hopefully I'll be able to add comments here in the upcoming weeks.

I meant rappers who speak on their "drug" dealing past. In the real world, it's not an easy thing.

M.Dot. said...

For some it is.

For some it isn't.

Depends on your comp, popo, supply & demand.

Artists do all the time but folk don't pay attention.

M.Dot. said...

Like WHO.

And who does so in a compelling way where it straight KNOCKS.

neo said...

50 did.

Joe budden has.

Jay, come on..all through his discog.

Nas also has touched on it a little bit.

Outkast...done did it.

Little Brother? Pshh that's part of their entire m.o.

I mean you want more?

M.Dot. said...

What are you talking about Neo.

N*ggas don't talk about dudes w/ reverence.

They DISRESPECT each other all day long. But showing love.

Negatory.

neo said...

Ok now you talkin' bout something TOTALLY different from aforementioned fam...

giving reverence =/= striving to get put on.

Yes, Ye' is the first to actually dedicate a song to a rap idol while himself being a rapper in this manner however I wonder how we'd classify Nas's UBR (Unauthorized Biography of Rakim)..

M.Dot. said...

Dude.

UBR is a branch on the same tree BUT IS NOT the same kind of song.
Its is important to note that
I CANNOT think of another song like BIG BROTHER or UBR that is about one dude talking about another dude tho.

Plus time and space seperate Nas and Ra, whereas the same is not true for J and Yeye.
